Fiat 127 T
This is what happens when a megalomaniac car enthusiast finds an old rusty Fiat.

Previous part

It has been a long time from previous update... the main reason is that nothing has been happened in my garage - in addition to specified below.

Picture 66. 127 standing outdoor a short while.

The vehicle has been operating amazingly well whole summer. One long journey has been done, too, to the national Fiat club (GFF) autumn meeting. At the end of the summer, the car has done 2000km. It seems to be consuming about 9l/100km which is not too bad with poorly tuned twin carbs.

The engine should have more power, as I said earlier. In Finland, power tuning of street vehicles is quite strictly limited by laws and rules, but there is some way to do it... it is possible to use the most powerful 127 1300GT model, manufactured by Fiat, as comparison and install a comparable engine. We'll see if the 1.5 litre turbo engine falls between the limits... My car would be then inspected using 1300GT brakes and suspension.

I started building my 1.5l engine already, more about that is told at the engine specifications.

The gearbox will be also modified because of few annoying things. At the first, engine RPM is too high at highway speeds, I have to make quite long trips with the car, occasionally. However, the car is being used on track, too...

I have a small collection of FWD Fiat gearboxes, I will check what I can do for the problem with these.

I also bought a Torsen differential. It is meant to be used in FWD Lada (VAZ) so some modifications is needed to fit it into Fiat gearbox. Flange-type (eg. non-tripod type, used with larger Fiat engines) driveshafts will fit directly into the diff, but the bearings between the diff and gearbox case have to be equipped with bushings - Fiat uses bigger bearings than Lada. Also, the diff does not directly fit into Fiat crownwheel... I have to make some investigations what to do for that.

There is also some electronics projects going - programmable ignition and injection systems will be used to cure the fueling and ignition problems noticed on the last summer.
