Fiat 127 T
This is what happens when a megalomaniac car enthusiast finds an old rusty Fiat.

Previous part

Finally in business again! :-)

I started with the gearbox. During distmantling, the tranny proved to be in good condition, which makes things a lot easier - now only some modifications have to be carried out. Fitting the crownwheel of the stock differential seems to be the most difficult task..

Pictures 69, 70 and 71. The gearbox apart. The Torsen diff also visible.

The weak link of this box is the differential. It looks very slimsy even compared to the 128 item that is found from tripoid-type box. And this is used with the smaller engines..

Pictures 72 and 73. The diff from the project gearbox, and the 128 diff.

Here is a separate story about gearbox modifications.

The engine is still being put together... all of the parts and the head is ready so I think it will be complete during the next summer. It is possible that I will get the new gearbox into the car during the spring. On the last summer, there were no problems with the car, excluding the alternator.
