Fiat 127 T
This is what happens when a megalomaniac car enthusiast finds an old rusty Fiat.

Previous part

The 1.5-litre engine is being put together, and my gearbox project has stopped because the lack of machining resources. So it became recent to do some modifications to the current setup.

The mods include fitting proper oil hoses, oil cooler, baffled oil sump and vernier camwheel. Valve clearances were adjusted and the water pump is now electrical. However, the most important thing was switching into the breakerless ignition.

The turbo was overhauled and it seemed to be in good condition.

The distributor become extremely hard to put in place after installation of oil cooler with associated hoses. A solution would be to use a distributor that is mounted to the camshaft end, but that requires a cam with suitable end drive slot. Now, the ignition timing cannot be adjusted while the engine running because the proximity of the cambelt.

It was problematic to time the cam because the protractor couldn't be fitted into the crankshaft end due to the lack of space. However, the job was succesful and it included manufacturing a suitable stand for the dial gauge. The gauge shows the valve lift, measured from the top of the tappet. Actually, there was no accurate information on the cam timing before this.
