Homebuilt Dyno Bench

Restoration

Another batch of retarders arriving.

The newer retarder was washed and cleaned from all dirt and dismantling was started. At the first, there was problems with the center nut of a rotor, it did not want to come off. When the nut was split, broken threads were found to be the cause. Now, it is necessary to make new ones in a lathe and get a new nut.

Dismantling the retarder.

I used phosphoric acid to remove all rust from the rotors. The shaft was put in lathe for making new threads. The bearings were still intact (which is good because the bearings this size are pricey) but new axle seals must be obtained.
